Getting started

  1. Send an enquiry

Use the form or contact me by email or telephone. You only need to provide a few words about what you are looking for.

  2. Arrange your free call

We will agree a suitable time for a 15-minute introductory conversation.

  3. Agree the arrangements

If we choose to work together, I will confirm the appointment and send the intake form, client agreement and privacy information.

  4. Begin therapy

Each ongoing session lasts 50 minutes. We can review how the work is going as we continue.

Payment and cancellation

Payment is due before each session; instructions are supplied when the appointment is arranged. The current client agreement governs cancellations, 48-hour notice, any applicable reasonable charges, statutory cooling-off rights and refunds. Please read the full cancellation policy below.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know exactly why I want therapy?

No. You may have a particular difficulty in mind, or just a sense that something feels unresolved or is no longer working for you. We can begin with what you are aware of and take time to understand the rest together.

Do I need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis?

No. Therapy can be a space for reflection, understanding relationships, navigating changes or exploring feelings that are hard to name. You do not need a diagnosis to enquire. If your needs call for more urgent or specialist support, we can discuss the appropriate services.

What if I feel nervous about starting?

Feeling uncertain about speaking to somebody new is understandable. The introductory call gives you a chance to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. You do not need to share anything in detail before you feel ready, and there is no obligation to book ongoing sessions.

What if I have tried therapy before and it didn’t help?

Different therapeutic relationships and approaches can feel very different. You are welcome to tell me what you found helpful or difficult in previous therapy, if you wish. We can consider what you would want from this experience and whether my approach seems like an appropriate fit.

What happens in the first session?
We will talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope for and whether my approach feels suitable. You do not need to prepare a full account of your life or know exactly where to start.
How is speaking to a therapist different from talking to a friend?

Friends can offer valuable support, but therapy creates a dedicated professional relationship with agreed boundaries, confidentiality and time for you. The purpose is not simply to offer advice. We can explore experiences and patterns together, including things you might not feel able to discuss in your everyday relationships.

Is online therapy right for me?

Online therapy may be a convenient way to meet consistently from a private place without travelling. We would agree a suitable video platform, and you must be physically in the UK during every session. It is important that you have sufficient privacy and a stable connection. We can discuss practical or clinical suitability before beginning.

How do online sessions work?
We agree a suitable video platform and I send the connection details before the appointment. You need a private space and to be physically in the UK during each session. Please let me know about any access or communication needs.
How often will we meet and for how long?
Sessions are usually weekly, at a time agreed individually. We will discuss what is suitable and review the work together. There is no fixed minimum course.
Can I ask questions or disagree with you during therapy?

Yes. I welcome questions about my observations, the process and how our work feels to you. If something does not resonate, we can talk about it. Understanding those moments together can be a valuable part of therapy.

Is therapy confidential?
What you share with me is treated as confidential. I use confidential professional supervision to support my work. Information may also be shared with your specific permission or where there is a necessary lawful reason, such as safeguarding, serious risk of harm, a legal requirement, or relevant professional advice, complaints or legal claims. I share only what is necessary and will normally discuss this with you first where lawful and safe to do so. The client agreement and privacy notice explain the full details.
What if the connection fails?
We will try to reconnect for up to five minutes, then use an agreed safe telephone backup or discuss rearranging. Any fee adjustment, credit or refund follows the client agreement and what happened in the session.
How much does a session cost?

Each ongoing 50-minute session costs £100. Reduced student fees may be considered and agreed individually. The 15-minute introductory call is free, with no obligation to continue.

How do I pay?

Payment is due before each session; instructions are supplied when the appointment is arranged.

What if I need to cancel or rearrange?
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange a session. With enough notice there is no charge. A late cancellation or missed appointment may be charged up to the session fee, limited to reasonable actual loss after allowing for saved costs or a filled slot. Exceptional circumstances are considered fairly. If I cancel, there is no charge and you can choose a refund or an alternative appointment. Applicable cooling-off and statutory rights are unaffected.

Notice is measured in elapsed hours, including weekends and bank holidays, and takes effect when it reaches the practice email or text number. With sufficient notice, a refund is provided within 14 days after cancellation, or transferred to another appointment if you choose. The client agreement explains early-start and cooling-off arrangements.

Can I end therapy?
You can end therapy at any time. An ending session is optional and there is no separate termination fee. Any charge for an already booked appointment follows the cancellation policy and your applicable rights.
How can I raise a concern?
You can raise a concern with me in a session, by email, telephone or post. I aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days and respond within 20 working days, with an update if more time is needed. You can also seek independent BACP guidance or use its complaints process, subject to its rules. You do not have to raise the issue with me first where that is not reasonably possible. Data protection concerns can also be raised with the ICO. Data protection complaints and rights requests are handled within their applicable statutory time limits.
