A personal introduction

About Micky

I'm Micky Laurie, an integrative psychotherapist offering online individual therapy to adults across the UK. My background is in psychology and counselling, and I'm interested in how our experiences, relationships and the meanings we make of them influence the way we understand ourselves.

What matters to me in therapy

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is central to the work. Being listened to with care, curiosity and without judgement can create space to speak about parts of life that are difficult to share elsewhere.

You may come to therapy with a clear concern, a recurring difficulty or a more uncertain sense that something needs attention. My role is not to tell you who to be or offer ready-made answers. Instead, we can explore your experience together, notice what feels important and develop a fuller understanding of the ways you think, feel and relate.

I aim to work in a thoughtful and collaborative way. Some conversations may involve looking at earlier experiences or relationship patterns. Others may focus on how you are feeling today, decisions you are facing or the sense of meaning and direction in your life. You are welcome to ask questions about the process, including when something does not feel helpful.

My training and clinical experience

I began formal counselling training in 2017 and went on to study psychology and psychotherapy at Regent's University London. My training developed through academic study, clinical practice, personal reflection and supervision.

As part of my clinical training, I worked as a counsellor at the Psychosynthesis Trust. This experience contributed to the way I work with the emotional and relational complexity that people bring to therapy, and reinforced the importance of meeting each individual without assumptions.
